Researchers develop chip able to detect traces of explosive
Researchers at the Technical University of Denmark are developing a chip which will be able to detect whether a person has been in contact with explosives. The chip, developed by a research group lead by Professor Anja Boisen with Phd students Jan Hales and Anders Greve, is expected to be available in 3-5 years.
The detection technology appears to be based on a micrometer-sized cantilever, in which “a biochemical reaction at the cantilever surface can be monitored as a bending of the cantilever due to temperature change or a change in the surface stress.” The research was featured in the Danish media, in light of last week’s terror alerts.
