NanoCharM Consortium Invites Characterisation and Materials Community Participation
First Newsletter and Questionnaire Now Available Online
1st NanoCharM Newsletter
NanoCharM (Multifunctional NanoMaterials Characterization exploiting Ellipsometry and Polarimetry) has produced its first newsletter aimed at keeping the community abreast of developments, opportunities, and events in the area of non-destructive material characterisation.
In the first newsletter:
* NanoCharM: its remit, progress to date and how it is assisting EU expertise
* An overview of nanoscience and nanotechnology publications and patents
* European activities in the area of nanometrology
* Research highlights
* Nanometrology resolved with Muller Polarimetry
* Defining the future of Ellipsometry
* Facing the Nanomaterials and Optics community
* Challenging Bessy
* UV-XUV Ellipsometry with synchrotron radiation
* Profile of partners
* Upcoming events
To access this resource, learn more about these techniques, and help shape future European development, please sign up at the NanoCharM website: www.nanocharm.org
NanoCharM Questionnaire
A short questionnaire has been designed for you to help us define current and future needs. Additionally, the information gathered will assist us in determining the most useful ellipsometer(s) for Nano applications.
We would very much appreciate if you would take the approx. 15 minutes required to complete this at: www.nanocharm.org/questionnaire
What is NanoCharM?
NanoCharM is a Coordinated Action funded by the EU under the Seventh Framework Programme to promote and develop the use of non-destructive characterisation of nanomaterials using polarimetry and ellipsometry techniques. The NanoCharM project will provide a strong push to both the fundamental research and technological applications of materials and devices with critical dimensions in the nanometer region by -
* Fostering the integration of the existing world-class European expertise and research activities on nanomaterials characterisation using ellipsometry/polarimetry techniques
* Facilitating access of multidisciplinary scientists and SMEs to these techniques
* Using the combined efforts of the consortium to open and maintain channels between primary research groups and industries fabricating nanomaterials
* Promoting the exchange of knowledge
* The expansion of the availability of ellipsometry/polarimetry infrastructures
* Using the NanoCharM consortium as a focus to establish useful interfaces between these non-conventional characterisation tools and nanotechnology in the wider fields of life-sciences/biotechnology, nanoelectronics and the semiconductor industries
NanoCharM Partners:
The partners represent some of Europe 's most prestigious organisations in the field of nanoparticles characterisation and include:
