A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between the Institute of Nanotechnology , a world leader on nanotechnology information, and Cranfield University, one of Europe 's foremost providers of postgraduate and professional training, and provides for the development and delivery of an innovative and exciting programme of professional short courses.
The new courses, which were launched in November 2007, currently comprise a series of short professional courses in the rapidly growing field of nanomedicine and are aimed at practising clinicians, medical scientists and researchers, industry professionals, regulators and others who will become increasingly involved with the application of knowledge at the nanoscale to medicine. Although currently focused on nanomedicine, the agreement allows for the future development of professional courses in other areas of nanotechnology application.
Two types of short course are currently offered - a general introductory “What is Nanomedicine?” one-day primer and specialised modules on various key nanomedical sub-disciplines including targeted drug delivery, nanotoxicology and the application of nanotechnology to diagnostics, biosensing, smart medical materials, regenerative medicine and medical imaging. The courses are held at major centres around the UK and Ireland and are designed to accommodate the needs of busy professionals, both in terms of course content and timing.
