can we implement a trasistor or dioide with couple of atoms?

i got one idea to implement a transistor or a diode with couple of atoms.
we know how the trasistor and diode formed and operation.but in first generation technology that is SSI,then MSI,LSI.VLSI,SCI,USI and so on.
but when we go to higher scale technologies this approches to nonoscale range.after expiring of moore's law the only upgrading technology in this field is nanotechnology.
we are using semicondustor meterials in electornics based on thier conductive and resistive properties variation with temperature.we can couple and form a diode or a transistor based on controlling the temperature or forming with atoms.
