Commercializing Nanotechnology in China
The Technology Cooperation & Promotion Center of Finland Nanoharju in China has been opened in TEDA (Tianjin Technical and Economical Development Area), about 150 km east from Beijing. This center is specialized in helping the Finnish SMEs in commercializing their products in China.
The new center was opened simultaneously with the China National Academy of Nanotechnology & Engineering (CNANE), probably the most important Chinese organisation in commercial nanotechnology and applied nanoscience.
One of the Nanoharju-cluster-companies, Beneq Oy, is using nanotechnology in its machinery and technology which the company provides for glass coating applications. The extrmely small particle size typically less than 50 nm allows great advantages in glass coatings and even in colouring glass with cost savings not being the smallest advantage. The CEO of Beneq Oy, Mr. Sampo Ahonen witnessed the opening ceremony of CNANE with Mr. Juho Rissanen, the manager of the Beijing office of the Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation. They were both pleased in the fact that the office will take the Chinese-Finnish co-operation to a new, and more real stage. For the Chinese float lines the availability of the breakthrough technology from their home country can have significant value and the bilateral technological cooperation ensures great further development possibilities.
