June has seen the launch of a new-look Institute of Nanotechnology (IoN) website. Over the coming months we hope this will improve the quality of services to our members and site visitors. There will also be new features to look out for, some of which will be apparent already. We hope you find the changes improve your experience of the site and welcome any comments or feedback on the new design.

The IoN has a growing database of over 45,000 nanotechnologists and provides a wide range of advertising and promotional opportunities to assist organizations in promoting their products, services and events to a global nano-focused audience. The www.nano.org.uk website receives over 1.5 million hits per month making it THE nanotech website for all organisations with an interest in nanotechnology.

IoN staff are working on many different projects, but are presently focusing their efforts on the following areas:

www.nanomednet.org will soon be launched by the IoN in order to disseminate information and promote the progression of nanomedicine. The network will bring together medical companies, researchers, investors and importantly, medical practitioners. It will facilitate awareness raising and training for medical practitioners on the latest developments in medicine enabled by nanoscience and nanotechnology.

Published in English and Chinese, the website acts as a bridge between nanotechnology activities taking place in China and in the rest of the world. It disseminates information and fosters the creation of nano-business networking opportunities. www.nanochina.cn visitors can use the high quality information services that are provided to help them start networking and growing business relationships with the nanotechnology sector in China.

IoN leads www.nanoforum.org, which is an information network funded by the EU to serve as a framework for all nanotechnology activities across Europe, by providing the nano-community with easy access to specially commissioned up-to-the minute reports, information on new nanotechnology developments, funding and partnership opportunities.

The European Nanotechnology Trade Alliance (ENTA) was recently launched by the IoN to represent the interests of nanotechnology businesses across Europe. www.euronanotrade.com bridges the gap between national and regional governments and companies, and interfaces with the public to ensure that member organizations develop new nanotechnologies in a safe and responsible manner.

www.nanomicroclub.com was established by the IoN to offer start-up companies an opportunity to network with each other, together with the specialists, business advisors, and technology end users that are essential for their survival.

A spin-out from the IoN, TTC offers market intelligence by undertaking independent studies. Many blue chip companies use TTC to identify new nanotechnologies within specific research areas that may be relevant to the development of new products. www.nanottc.com will soon be launched.
