NanoMedNet, Cranfield University and the Institute of Nanotechnology

CPD points awarded by the Royal College of Pathologists.

Learn how the application of knowledge at the nanoscale and the ability to manipulate materials using nanotechnology will revolutionize medicine.

Hear about some of the most groundbreaking new developments in medical technology.

The Institute of Nanotechnology (IoN), leaders in nanotechnology information, and Cranfield University, leaders in the provision of professional short training courses, present a novel and innovative series of short training courses in nanomedicine.
This introductory one-day “What is Nanomedicine?” module will provide those with an existing involvement or interest in medicine or medical science with a broad overview of some of the most important aspects of, and developments in, the rapidly growing new field of nanomedicine.

Topics to be covered will include:

  • molecular imaging
  • lab-on-a-chip, quantum dots and other novel diagnostic tools
  • nanobiosensors
  • regenerative medicine, including tissue engineering and cell and gene therapy
  • advanced and “smart” medical materials
  • nanotechnology-based drug targeting and delivery systems
  • nano-bio-electronic interfaces and novel devices
  • risks, ethical and regulatory aspects

This course will be invaluable for clinicians interested in learning about novel nanotechnology-based treatments and diagnostic tools, medical researchers, staff involved in innovation and technology transfer, healthcare administrators, regulators and others interested in how new and highly multidisciplinary technologies will impact on the practice of medicine and delivery of healthcare.
