1. New Collaborative Opportunity: Novel silver on titanium dioxide films for surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy

A UK-based research centre is seeking a partner for the following collaborative opportunity: they currently have a method to produce novel silver on titanium dioxide films for surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy and are seeking companies (not universities) who might be able to undertake small scale production for their research purposes. They would require a flexible, quick response approach as they will need to modify the production method in accordance with the experimental findings. They need to be manufactured in a ‘clean’ environment. The centre is looking for someone who has experience producing surfaces of a similar nature and who understands the complexity of the subject area.

Please contact andy.garland@nanoposts.com if you can meet this need, with your name, contact details and brief description of how your expertise fits with this request.

2. Latest technologies for sale/licence

Smart Anti-Microbial Coatings
A major problem in the manufacturing, building and related industries is the progressive deterioration and damage on surfaces due to UV attack, external weathering and bio- growth. http://www.nanoposts.com/htmldata/4/2007_05/509_1.html >>

Anti-Corrosion Nanocoatings
Beside excellent corrosion protection a lot of additional useful functionalities, like “easy-to-clean” effect, scratch resistance, high temperature resistance, etc.

Intelligent polymers that possess a molecular memory
We are developing intelligent polymers that possess a molecular memory thanks to an imprinting process at the molecular level. This memory enables the polymer to repeatedly recognise and bind a target compound with a very high selectivity.

Nanostructured quantum wells for thermophotovoltaics and smart windows
This group has pioneered the use of nanostructured quantum wells (QWs) to enhance the efficiency of solar ells. One possible application is intelligent blinds to minimise internal glare can be replaced by small, nearly transparent, solar modules based on third generation photovoltaic cells.
